Welcome to Recyclique!
We are a non-profit co-op devoted to creative re-use. Our vendors include adults and older teens that do “upcycling” (design and building of affordable products from found objects, trash and recycled materials). Our goal is eye-catching, cool products, that are useful and/or distinctive (not kitsch!).
We also feature traditional re-use — thrift, vintage, and refurbished items, plus crafts, fair trade, sustainability products, educational toys and books.
Our Recyclique retail shop, located at 2811 Hillsborough Rd, Durham, is open:
Fri. 12 noon-6 pm & Sat. 10am-5 pm

Our enterprise is run mostly by volunteers (although we have created one part-time job so far). Our sales support the educational mission and projects of CommunEcos, and create green income flows for underemployed people in the local economy and abroad (through our Fair Trade collaborators). If you would like to learn how to become a vendor at Recyclique, email yikes.contact@gmail.com. Vendors who volunteer at least 4 hours a month routinely earn 70% of sales, and those who cannot volunteer earn 60%. However, we are offering an Introductory Special Rate of 75% of sales for six months (between August 1, 2012 and January 31, 2013) for upcyclers and refurbishers who can volunteer 4 hours a month.
We welcome donations of used items or sustainability products that fit our themes and which we think we can sell, but we are limited by space for both display and storage, so we must select carefully. We are also open to special arrangements for use of the front yard on Saturdays for sales, exhibits, food vending, and demonstrations.
Our “Eco Lounge” room is an educational and community space, and the location of our books (for sale/trade/lending), internet service (free), & bar w/ cold drinks, tea and (on Sat. mornings) coffee and fresh baked goodies from local bakers. We also do digital video/slide presentations there during enviro-ed events, most often on 1st and 3rd Fridays.
Come visit us — it’s a bright green house next to the Food Lion! With it’s unique, creative and ever changing inventory — there will always be something to captivate your interest! Great source for the perfect gift that gives twice by helping to reduce waste, support local artisans and promote a green economy!
