Welcome to Recyclique!
We are a non-profit co-op shop devoted to creative re-use and sustainability. Our vendors include adults and older teens that create upcycled products (affordable products made or upgraded with found objects, trash and recycled materials). Our goal is eye-catching, cool products, that are useful and/or distinctive (not kitsch!). We also feature traditional re-use — thrift, vintage, and refurbished items, plus crafts, fair trade, sustainability products, educational toys and used books.
Recyclique’s shop is at
2811 Hillsborough Rd, Durham.
Open: Wed – Thur – Fri 3-6 pm;
Saturdays 10am-5 pm

Our enterprise is run in part by volunteers (although we have created one part-time job so far, and we pay a member for rain barrel conversion). Our sales support the educational mission and projects of CommunEcos, and create green income flows for underemployed people in the local economy. If you would like to become a vendor at Recyclique, email firstname.lastname@example.org. Upcycler crafters of handbags, clothing, useful household items especially welcome, and we are also interested in folks who do small furniture and jewelry restoration. Vendors who volunteer at least 4 hours a month routinely earn 70% of sales, and those who cannot volunteer earn 60%.
We welcome your tax-deductible donations of used items or sustainability products that fit our themes and which we think we can sell, but we are limited by space for both display and storage, so we must select carefully. We are also open to special arrangements for use of the front yard on Saturdays for sales, exhibits, food vending, and demonstrations.
In summer 2013 we enlarged our “Eco Lounge” room –an educational and community space which can now seat around 30 people. This space will be available to groups for evening meetings at great rates [email email@example.com for more info]. Our books, CDs and other electronic media and most of our art are in this space to the rear of the main shop. We also have free wi-fi internet service & will be using the EcoLounge as a gallery space for exhibiting local artists’ work. When our upgrades are finished it will also have a bar area w/ self-serve cold drinks, hot tea and (on Sat. mornings) coffee and fresh baked goodies from local bakers. We do digital video/slide presentations and talks/discussion groups in the Ecolounge during enviro-ed events, held often on Friday evenings at 6 pm, or sometimes Saturday afternoons at 2 pm.
Come visit us — we’re roughly 4 blocks west of Ninth St in a bright green house next to the Hillsborough Rd. Food Lion! With our unique, creative and ever changing inventory — there will always be something to captivate your interest! Recyclique is a great source for the perfect gift that gives twice by helping to reduce waste, support local artisans and promote a green economy!
